IMAGING AI ??

EDITED BY: MOHAMMAD IBRAHIM / CEO

Powered by AI isn’t a SLOGAN

that sales representatives in medical imaging companies use… it’s a fact that started a long time ago, especially in the last five years if you’ve been to an annual event like RSNA or ASTRO

You will find the huge number of startups talking about AI

And you will see the huge amount of money invested in this field…….

Our MOTTO for this meeting will be…

what we benefit from artificial intelligence, not how it works

What is useful is more important than how it works

To understand the topic, it is necessary to go back to its historical roots…. John McCarthy (1927 – 2011)

was an American computer scientist who got the TURING AWARD in 1971 for his great contribution to the science of artificial intelligence.  He is credited with choosing the term artificial intelligence and calling it this

In order to avoid complications and in simple words…. man, and machine work together…but how is that….  It is custom algorithms and algorithms that speed up dealing with the huge amount of data and details that can drain the time and effort of great specialists, whether it is the radiology technician or the specialist doctor or even other departments in the hospital that work as a regular sequence to serve the patient….

But what are the real reasons for using artificial intelligence in medical imaging

Professor Mathias GoyenGE healthcare says that the huge amount of data and the lack of the human component qualified to treat it and the urgent necessity in some situations is one of the most important reasons for using artificial intelligence in medical imaging

It is a convincing reason, but it is not enough, as companies are looking for huge financial investments. The real reason lies in the investment income

that most companies aspire to

What are the requirements for success? It is obvious when talking about artificial intelligence in any field of thinking with complex computers, servers, huge networks

So, as a result of initial thinking, the integration of artificial intelligence and deep learning into medical imaging will require advanced hardware and high communication technologies….  Interested people are wondering what the situation in third world countries and countries that will be do not have a high level of technology

Also, there will be requirements such as health data analysist

But who will be supervising the training… Really, it’s hard

I think there are things that must be taken ,

for example, the high cost or operational value of the devices themselves, as the value of the devices that include this wonderful technology, accessories or work requirements will increase with the presence of artificial intelligence techniques and in addition to the cadres…….  It seems difficult and takes more time

Examples from reality

In fairness, we will not be able to include examples from all companies that have long sellers in the field of medical imaging…

We will present examples of companies that have adopted artificial intelligence as a basic base upon which the companys policy in terms of scientific development or marketing is built

and this precedent is achieved by NANOX IMAGING, and it shows Clearly in NANOX ARC, Mr. ERZ MELTZER /CEO says that the distinction achieved by NANOX is to make artificial intelligence a fundamental principle in the company’s services….

But it’s a startup…. What about the forefathers in this field?

Siemens was distinguished early on by the number of patents that reach 700 related to machine learning… We can take the example of SOMATOM EDGE PLUS CT that uses artificial intelligence techniques starting from the patient’s position transitions to image processing by clicking one button ….

GE has also distinguished and produced devices such as the SIGNA HERO MRI, SIGNA ARTIST EVO MRI, which clearly uses the innovative AIR RECON DL technology to improve image quality.

Friends at Philips have a long history of innovative innovations especially in ultrasound devices through the development of the EPIQ, and in 2018 started a machine learning project to train health professionals in India, Bangalore, Cambridge, Massachusetts and Shanghai

The beautiful Canon has developed the AICE system in devices such as the GALAN 3T MRI and AQUILION SERVE

There is also UNITED IMAGING and the OMEGA UMR

In fact, the list of examples is long

What about future expectation

I expect a future full of challenges that require greater cooperation between companies that develop artificial intelligence techniques in medical imaging and avoiding greed and making fair competition to achieve a higher goal, which is to serve all of humanity.

When I thought of writing these lines,

I asked my friend ، radiologist …. He was grumbling and said that artificial intelligence will remove us in analyzing images and diagnosing that, it threatens us!!!!

I answered him like Dr. Mathias Goyen answered simply that the jet you are traveling in uses autopilot and there is a human pilot in the cockpit and they both work together, and no one removed the other….

Would you have traveled from Dubai to Chicago if you knew that the jet was driven by autopilot without Human or human without autopilot!!!!!!

…..

he breathed deeply and said we will wait for the future.
